Child Safeguarding in a School

On 30 – 31 January, CPCR works with 3 schools in Saraburi Province – Ban Krua (Sement Thai Songkhor) School, Wat Mahalok School and Wat Muang Noi School – to promote child safeguarding programs in their schools. All schools have implemented 2 programs which are ‘Safety Rounds’ and ‘Sex Education Program – Feeling YES, Feeling NO’ and They receive supports from the parent network, community leaders, the school committee and village health volunteers.

In ‘Safety Rounds’ activity, 95 participants from 3 schools walk around their schools and look for unsafe areas or risk spots that may cause danger for their children. After that, they make a conclusion and find appropriate solutions to renovate the areas. For example; there is a hole in the school playground. This can cause an injury for a student because they play a sport in this area every day. The school committee agree to lever the ground area. Meanwhile, in ‘Feeling YES, Feeing ‘NO’ program, there are 429 students from 3 schools. Their teachers lead the workshop and are looked after by CPCR staff.
